The Sekondi-Takoradi Sister-Cities Support Fund is a local initiative to raise funds to support and sustain sister-city friendship between our city and others around the world to promote social and economic development.

It is an initiative to financially sustain and promote friendship with other cities internationally towards development and pursuits of the ideals of sister-cities for Sekondi-Takoradi. From the late 1970’s, Sekondi-Takoradi has had sister city relations with Boston, Massachusetts (USA), Oakland (USA), Plymouth (UK) and lately Palemo (Italy).

Changes in Government in Ghana from time to time, has led to disinterest and breakdown in these sister-city relations chiefly. Absence of dedicated local funding continue to deprive the City from fully tapping and utilizing the full potential of sister-city relations.

This new approach is to achieve financial sustainability, and relevance of our international friendship and partnerships to continuously promote development in education, health, sports, culture, business and skills development to create jobs and incomes for the people of Sekondi-Takoradi
